Injectables
Through science we now have the ability to manipulate and use the strongest and safest paralysing agent known to man to significantly reduce, eliminate or in some cases reverse the detrimental effects caused to the underlying structure of our skin from normal facial movement. Science has also brought us the ability to temporarily (up to two years) replace an essential acid (hyaluronic) lost from our skin through the normal ageing process allowing us to return plumpness and fullness to the skin. The returned volume in turn, fills out wrinkles and or provides a structure and appearance closer to our youthful past.
In the case of injectables, understanding the underlying science and then the use of it by experienced medical practitioners, in a medical setting, using the latest and world leading medical protocols, empowers effective and efficient anti-ageing treatments while also and most importantly doing so safely.
Put simply, it’s the wonders of science in a medical context, safely, enabling you to look your best.
goal: to look the best you can for your age.

Facial wrinkles make you look tired, sad, older, angry or potentially all or a combination of these things. Anti-wrinkle injections have existed for decades, are medically proven to work and when applied as a treatment under the direct supervision of a cosmetic doctor by qualified and experienced medical practitioners, they are a safe, quick and an effective way of reducing or eliminating wrinkles.
Anti-wrinkle injectibles are a Schedule 4 drug and treatment by them comes with some potential risks. Clinician protocols, experienced practitioners, appropriate and measured prescribing, monitoring and ease of communication between clients and medical staff, post procedure is essential. We deliver a personalised and professionally based service. We don't offer, at arms length, fly in fly out, based injecting.
Our goal is to achieve a natural look, that results in a fresher, more youthful, healthier and happier version of you. We achieve this by being conservative in our approach and performing treatments which involve the least amount of intervention. This saves you money and produces a result which people will notice but not necessarily suspect is the outcome of a treatment.
The best injecting results, come from the application of world leading “treatment” and “care” protocols.
For it to be a world standard “Treatment”, the following needs to be present:
- the practitioners need to have a detailed medical facial anatomy knowledge;
- direct cosmetic experience and training under the guidance of world leading cosmetic experts needs to have occurred;
- there needs to have been revision and upgrading of injector skills through intensive hands on industry-based training and re-training;
- a clinical approach to all treatments involving a combination of members including one or more principals and across a number of disciplines is important;
- direct supervision and monitoring by or performance of the treatment by a Cosmetic Dr is essential; and
- injecting based on the most recent, proven low risk high return protocols available is important.
Excellence in “Care” comes out of implementing a comprehensive industry leading post treatment protocol, which involves:
- the treatment being provided in a relaxed and private surrounding where the patient decides on the time he / she needs before returning to his / her life;
- includes post injection skin calming through the application of peptides and cooling;
- provides access to a suite of foundation and basic cosmetics so that you can leave in much the same state that you arrived in; and
- includes follow ups, one day, one week and if necessary, one fortnight after treatment#1.
#1 The day and week one follow ups are performed by phone by one of our Registered Nurses. An in-room review will be arranged if “tweaking” is required one fortnight after treatment. Reviews are free; additional injectibles are at our standard rates.
Other conditions that are able to be treated using the same active ingredients by injection:
- Jaw Slimming. Large masseter (jaw) muscles are common for many people of Asian ethnic background. Prominent masseter muscles can make the jaw appear to be squarer and more chiselled. Targeted injecting into the masseter muscle allows sculpting of the jaw shape to reduce its size and softening / thinning its shape, without any noticeable change to jaw function.
- Uneven Brows. Asymmetrical eye brows are a common condition borne out of bone, muscle or fat discrepancies. Fortunately, most cases can be fixed through small adjustments to controlling muscles.
- “Inverted V” Eye Brows. Also referred to as “Dr Spock” eye brows the sharp inverted V eye brows don’t suit all faces. Similar to “uneven / asymmetrical” eye brows V shaped eye brows can be reshaped through small adjustments to controlling muscles to soften and round out the brow shape.
- Clenching / Grinding of Teeth (aka bruxism). In its worst form clenching and grinding of teeth leads to significant tooth damage and making the jaw size and shape, more significant in relation to the remainder of the face. Injections to the masseter muscle are able to address most grinding issues to a lesser or larger extent.
- Migraine Relief. Reducing migraine frequency and or severity is complex and difficult to achieve. It’s been shown that a portion of migraine sufferers get moderate or significant reduction in their symptoms through targeted injecting and relaxation of neck and head muscles.
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the hands, under arms, feet and face). More common than you would expect and a significant problem due to our climate, this condition can be treated through injections that block the secretion of the chemical that activates the sweat glands. Post injection the glands reduce sweat output. Continual management of the condition is required to get permanent relief.
Our Cosmetic Doctor will be able to assess your skin and answer all your queries, in detail, at your consultation. Our consultation fee is redeemable against all treatment costs (treatment costs does not include product purchases). Non-specific / generally asked questions and answers are provided below.
FAQ
- I am taking a number of medications. Am I able to have anti-wrinkle injections?
There are a small and limited number of medications and medical conditions that would preclude treatment. A full medical history is obtained at the time of your consultation. Our Cosmetic Dr will be able to assess your medical history and skin and advise you of the presence of contra-indications, if they exist. - How long will each course of injections last?
Each individual is different, however, on average anti-wrinkle injections last for three months. During this three month period the efficacy of the injections is not completely uniform. It takes a fortnight for the injections to be fully effective and towards the end of the three months the efficacy drops off. The period between injections will lengthen for patients who are retreated regularly and who’s muscles naturally atrophy (become weaker due to underuse). - What is the criteria used in determining whether I can have anti-wrinkle injections (in other words what are the steps required to get anti-wrinkle injections)?
Our Cosmetic Doctor will need to:
i. review your medical history;
ii. examine and determine your skins suitability;
iii. ensure your skin is free of lesions; and
iv. determine that you have both a “need” for and will “benefit” from, (based on medical parameters), the treatment, respectively.
If all of these criteria are met, our Doctor will issue a prescription valid for one year and anti-wrinkle injection treatments can proceed at a time suitable to you. - What is the cost?
Our cost philosophy is to provide affordability and value in all the cosmetic treatments offered by our clinic. We believe all treatments should be affordable to all and our prices should reflect value and general market conditions. Savings we achieve through our combined purchasing is passed directly to our clients. That said, this is a medical procedure using Schedule 4 controlled substances. We operate and focus only on determining whether there is a “need” and “benefit” for and from, respectively, this treatment. Once these criteria have been satisfied our focus turns to the safe treatment and post treatment support of clients using the best available protocols and most experienced staff. We leave all cost determinations to our clients.
Nb we are a conservative, principled, medically run and operated professional clinic, that takes client and legal obligations and responsibilities seriously. The medications in question are covered by the rules and regulations of the “Drug, Poisons and Control Substances” and “Therapeutic Goods” Acts. Heavy penalties apply for misuse of these substances. If used inappropriately or in untrained hands these injectables can result in “life changing” consequences for the patient. It is illegal to induce any treatment on the basis of price! No treatment will occur unless and until we have established on medical grounds both a “need” and “benefit” for the patient from the treatment. It is on this basis that we refrain completely from discussing costs directly in open forums like this. Consultation with our Cosmetic Doctor carries a fee of $100, however this fee is completely redeemable off any treatment carried out after consultation (straight away and or up to three months from the date of the consultation). - What is your philosophy on the amount of treatment you recommend?
We aim to provide results that are “natural” and provide you with a look that is the best you can sensibly achieve given your age and skin condition. It’s important to us and our reputation that you don’t leave our clinic looking like “shiny plastic”. Reasonable movement so that you can express normal emotions is important. We like to think of our philosophy as taking off any existing harshness, making you look more relaxed, happy and refreshed! To achieve this we have strict processes, protocols, exercised under close supervision and monitoring of all treatment and treatment outcomes, using the best equipment and injectables by competent well trained and experienced Cosmetic Doctors or Cosmetic Registered Nurses, only. - What discomfort can I expect?
We use the finest gauge Japanese manufactured needles along with numbing creams. The later, “numbing creams”, are usually not required or asked for. Discomfort depends on the area being injected and your general tolerance to pain. General patient comments vary from “I felt nothing” to “it felt like a skin prick”. - My girlfriend had bruising at the injection sites. Is that normal?
Generally, we would expect no or a very small amount of localised bruising at potentially one of your injecting sites. Its more normal to have no or one or more very small pin point red spots at the injecting site(s) immediately after treatment and up 24–48 hrs. Most pin point spots are easily covered with foundation. There are a number of factors that can make you more susceptible to bruising including your genetics, medical history, your blood, your age, the medications you take (e.g. asprin), your skin condition and whether you smoke or not. - Who will do my treatment?
The Cosmetic Doctor will discuss your treatment options with you. Many procedures are able to be carried out by a Cosmetic Registered Nurse. At the end of the day it’s your choice who does your treatment and the extent of the treatment you get (provided it is within our Cosmetic Doctors guidelines). The choice of clinic and injector are for you alone to determine. - How long before I will see results?
The time from treatment to when your results are noticeable differs and is dependent on many factors. As a general rule people notice the effects (partly or fully) kicking in from 12 hours. Full effect should be apparent 10 days post treatment. Our injecting protocol is conservative and reduces the cost of your treatment. We would prefer to under treat and have to adjust up your doses at a follow up consultation than over treat and waste your money. You will be called one day and fortnight after your treatment. We take the care to ensure you get the best results possible for the least amount of cost and inconvenience. If you have a significant upcoming event we would recommend treatment two to three weeks prior.
goal: to look the best you can for your age.

As we age our plump baby faces thin and lose volume. This loss of volume and deterioration of skin texture, in our society, are associated directly with old age, being angry, sad and or unhealthy.
Fillers (also known as “dermal fillers”) are made from hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring compound. Hyaluronic acid when injected will integrate with the tissue it comes in contact too, then attract and hold water / moisture in the skin. The effect of this is a plumping, gentle lifting and increased firmness of the injection sites and the surrounding tissue. Wrinkles are reduced or in the best cases, eliminated, cheek bones raised and highlighted. Your best attributes become naturally accentuated, once more. You look younger, healthier and your skin appears softer and more supple. Fillers are now considered the newer and less expensive face lift surgery option.
Three things to consider.
- Not all fillers are equal. Formulation strengths, chemical make-up, design and manufacturing processes combine to give each filler brand a unique list of characteristics / qualities. This means each filler is made and best suited for a particular medical indication (i.e. for a particular use) e.g. a filler ideal for your lips won’t be suitable for the tear tough area. A cheaper alternative (not always) may provide a shorter lasting or less effective, result. A comprehensive range of fillers on hand and good filler selection to suit your particular needs, is important.
- Injecting is as much art as medical science. Best practice protocols, techniques, procedures, monitoring, supervision and training are all essential. Plastic surgeons will admit that enhancement of the face’s features (curves, cheeks, forehead, chin, jaw line etc) is about being able to “see” ahead of the procedure, being able to look and understand what has been lost and needs to be replaced. Tissue loss does not occur uniformly across the population, everyone is different. Anatomy and being able to identify each person’s particular needs is an “art” which the injector either possesses or doesn’t. Facial anatomy, experience, training and the “eye” (art) of the Cosmetic Doctor all come into play and drastically affect the outcome achieved.
- Filler injectibles are a Schedule 4 drug and treatment by them comes with some risks. Clinician protocols, experienced practitioners, appropriate and measured prescribing, monitoring and ease of communication between clients and medical staff, post procedure is essential. We don’t do non-relationship at arms length, fly in fly out, based injecting.
Where we believe we provide an advantage is:
- Clinic philosophy. We have a range of services and treatment options which can be tailored to your needs and budget. Each face and the requirements best suited to each individual, differ. We consider fillers as only one part of your treatment plan. We look and offer a range of treatments, based on the skill and equipment sets available to us and list them out to you. We work to provide you with the best treatment combinations that provide the best skin texture and tone improvements on a per visit basis. It’s a completely holistic approach, not a treatment off a menu offered by a pop up clinic and a fly in / out doctor.
- We stock a comprehensive range of fillers. We hold an extensive range of fillers including:
a. Those which provide the best available technology science can offer (delivery, longevity and effect);
b. Fillers which provide the best value;
c. Fillers which offer the best efficacy for each different treatment area; and
d. A selection of fillers that sit between these extremes. - Cannula vs needle. The safest, most comfort, lowest risk of bruising is achieved through the employment of the best technique using the best available tools. Often this involves the use of cannulas rather than needles. Cannulas allow the injector to enter the skin at a place of low risk and move under the skin and around important structures to deposit the filler. The risk of temporary damage to vascular structures and associated bruising can be avoided or significantly reduced.
- A conservative approach. Our purpose, is to achieve a natural look. We want to create a fresher, more youthful, healthier and happier version of you. We try to achieve this with the least amount of clinical intervention. We move you slowly through the process using a conservative based ethos with the least inconvenience and expense possible. It’s better to take two small steps then one large step only to realise one small step would have been enough.
- A comprehensive pre and post treatment care program. We have a comprehensive industry leading post treatment protocol which is;
a. provided in relaxed and private surroundings where the patient decides when they return to their normal routine;
b. includes post injection skin calming through the application of peptide serums and cooling (where appropriate);
c. provides access to a variety of foundation and basic cosmetics so that you can leave in the same state as you arrived; and
d. includes follow ups, one day, one week and if necessary, one fortnight after treatment#1.
#1 The day and week one follow ups are performed by phone by one of our Registered Nurses. A review appointment will be arranged if “tweaking” is required one fortnight after treatment. Reviews are free; additional injectables (if required) are charged at our standard rates.

FAQ
- I am taking a number of medications. Am I able to have filler injections?
There are a small and limited number of medications and medical conditions that would preclude treatment. A full medical history is obtained at the time of your consultation. Our Cosmetic Doctor will be able to assess your medical history and skin and advise you what is the safest / most sensible strategy to adopt and move forward with. - How long will each course of fillers last?
Even though it is contrary to some of the claims and literature published on the internet; it is our experience that fillers will only last, on average, for between six (6) and eighteen (18) months depending on the area injected, the person in question (i.e. how and how fast your body metabolises filler product) and the type of filler used. - How many millilitres (mls) of filler will I need?
Empirical studies show (generally) that for middle aged women the best results are achieved through provision of up to six (6) millilitres of filler. Five millilitres is the equivalent volume that a tea spoon holds. Six millilitres is surprisingly small. Volume loss occurs consistently across the face over time but people don’t usually present as good candidates or don’t look for treatment until the volume loss is reasonably significant. Filler(s) are manufacturered, for sterile and economic reasons, in individual millilitre disposable syringes. We support those clients who decide to proceed in a slow and conservative manner, along with those clients who embrace completely the advice provided by our Cosmetic Doctor and take a more direct and instant approach. Both methods are right. - What is the criteria used in determining whether I can have filler(s) injections (in other words what are the steps required to get filler injections)?
Our Cosmetic Doctor will need to:
i. Review your medical history;
ii. Examine and determine your skins suitability;
iii. Ensure your skin is free of open lesions; and
iv. Determine that you have both a “need” for and will “benefit” from, (based on medical parameters), the filler treatment, respectively.
If all of these for criteria are met our Doctor will issue a prescription valid for one year and filler treatments can proceed at a time suitable to you. - What is the cost?

We aim to provide results that are “natural” and provide you with a look that is the best you can safely and sensibly achieve given your age and skin condition. It’s important to us and our reputation that you don’t leave our clinic looking "unnatural". We like to think of our philosophy as, the sensible giving back of time. To achieve this we have strict processes, protocols, exercised under close supervision and monitoring of all treatments and then at nominated later points reviews of the treatment outcomes. We research and then use the best equipment and injectables by competent well trained and experienced Cosmetic Doctors or Cosmetic Registered Nurses. - What discomfort can I expect?
We use the finest gauge Japanese manufactured needles and cannulas in conjunction with local anaesthetics and numbing creams. Discomfort depends on the area being injected and your general tolerance to pain. Of all the areas the lips have a very high concentration of nerves and are renowned as providing the most treatment discomfort. Patient comments vary from “nothing” to “moderate” discomfort. - My girlfriend had bruising at the injection sites. Is that normal?
We use cannulas, where appropriate, to reduce the chance of bruising. Generally, we would expect no or a very small amount of localised bruising at the injecting site. The choice of clinic and injector are for you to determine. - How long before I will see results?
You will be able to see and monitor your results in real time. It’s instantaneous. Its also normal for there to be some moderate swelling at the time of treatment. Any swelling you encounter, will initially, exaggerate your results. All swelling should resolve in one to three days. You will get comments on your skin as soon as you leave the clinic. You will be called by one of our staff the day and one week after, respectively, your treatment. We take the care to ensure you get the best results possible for the least amount of cost and monitor you to ensure the most appropriate / best possible outcome is achieved. If you have a significant upcoming event we would recommend treatment two to three weeks prior.
